Retirement – all the time in the world to do things! Start to try to live up to the profile on the blog – an active Orienteer (yes), Mountain biker (can’t cycle at the moment due to hip), Kayaker (not been in my kayak this year due to hip), Climber (would probably fall off a ‘Diff’ and not been up a hill for ages!).

Well, life has taken an unexpected turn. In mid-June, there was a ‘voluntary severance trawl’ of teaching staff in Inverclyde. As geography was one of the subjects mentioned, I applied and then heard on the last day of term that I was being offered a ‘severance date’ of 30th September 2009 (no negotiation allowed, not even to the Friday of the week) with 4 years enhancement which took me to the age of 60!

We both entered and brought up the rear as we crossed the main road into the Castle grounds where I slowed to a walk as the starting pace was a little fast for me.

So, after the last post, am I keeping to the aims I put down for 2009? What is it possible to do in January?
Well, the holiday finished with a couple of long runs; one at Taynish as part of the club deflab run (and this was followed by soup / sandwiches / cake at the Tayvallich Coffee Shop). The report of this run is on the EckO website.

As usual, all the best intentions for regular posts on the blog went somewhere. I have become so out of practise that I will have to enlist the help of my assistant to make sure I get this post up! I had thought that posts would be more regular after purchasing ‘Wee EEE pc’ but that has not happened.
